Construction Materials Estimating &
Procurement

Services is currently developing CMEPS, the Construction Materials Estimating &
Procurement System. CMEPS is an internet
based resource that will provide construction
estimators with a Single Sourcing Option,
enabling them to access the data they require to
cost effectively:
- Develop project bids and
cost quotations for imported construction
materials;
- Search vendor databases for
accurate and detailed product information;
- Compare comparable products
offered by competing vendors and make product
selections based on relevant technical and/or
cost factors;
- Secure favorable pricing of
construction materials based on volume
levels;
- Issue and track purchase
orders;
- Manage the transport and
logistics processes for timely and safe
delivery;
- Secure favorable financing
from export credit agencies and other financing
institutions.
CMEPS will have a built in
Project Estimating Feature that will make it
simple for buyers to develop winning bids by
automatically extracting and formatting relevant
information for selected products. A Project
Tracking Feature will eventually enable Buyers
to place orders directly with AIS as well as
track the progress of their orders through
manufacturing and shipping.
In these ways, CMEPS will
lead to significant compression in procurement
cycle times, facilitating more thorough
technical and cost research, as well as
technical and cost summaries that will enhance
proposal submissions. More important, CMEPS will
enable users to significantly reduce procurement
overhead costs in the areas of labor,
communications, and administration. A 1%
reduction in these costs can lead to as much as
a 10% increase in Profits. As a cost savings
solution, CMEPS will become an integral
component to the competitive strategies of
world-class construction companies around the
globe.
